Groundbreakers Plant Hire Pty Ltd (“Groundbreakers”, “we”, “us”) is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use, share and store it, and how you can access it, whether you deal with us in person, by phone, by email, through our messaging services or through this website.

What we collect
When you make an enquiry or ask for a quote, we usually ask for your name, business name (if you have one), phone number, email address and the project suburb, so we can contact you and arrange delivery or collection.
When a quote is accepted and you hire our plant and equipment or services, we may also need:
- The exact address of the project.
- A copy of your driver licence, to confirm your identity and address and that you can legally operate a Groundbreakers vehicle or machine.
- A copy of any licence, high risk work licence or Verification of Competency (VoC) that a particular machine requires.
- The details in your signed Hire Agreement.
How we collect it
- Through our quoting process and messaging services.
- By phone, email and in person.
- Through the contact and quote forms on this website.
- When you browse this website (see “Website analytics and cookies” below).
- When you sign a Hire Agreement or give us a copy of your licence.
How we use it
- Internal administration.
- Providing hire equipment and services.
- Responding to your enquiries and requests.
- Telling you about new services and specials (you can opt out at any time by emailing contact@groundbreakersph.com.au).
- Understanding what our customers need, and improving our services and this website.
Website analytics and cookies
Like most websites, ours uses cookies and similar tools to collect information such as the pages you visit, when you visit and the type of device and browser you use. These tools do not identify you by name. We use:
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages and enquiry buttons people use.
- Google Ads measurement, to see which of our ads lead to enquiries.
- Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors use the website (clicks, scrolling and the pages viewed) as session replays and heatmaps, so we can see where the site is hard to use and fix it. Anything you type into our forms is masked in your browser and is not sent to Microsoft. Microsoft may also use this information for its own purposes, as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- WordPress.com and Jetpack, which host this website and keep basic visit statistics.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the website may not work as well if you do.
GPS data on our plant and equipment
Some of our plant and equipment carries on-board GPS devices that report where the machine is and may report engine data, travel speed and ignition status. By hiring from us, you agree that we may collect, use and keep this GPS data during the hire period. We use it to:
- Schedule maintenance and servicing.
- Direct a service technician to the machine if it breaks down.
- Confirm where the machine was at the time of an accident or incident.
- Check the machine is not being used in a restricted area or condition.
- Give information to police if the machine is stolen, used unlawfully or not returned at the end of the hire.
When we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it outside Groundbreakers only:
- With service providers who run our website, email, analytics and advertising for us (listed above), who handle it only to provide that service.
- When you have given us your written consent.
- When a law enforcement or other government agency lawfully requests it.
- When a customer defaults on a hire contract or other commitment to us; in that case we may give the customer’s details and transaction history to our legal advisers, debt collection agencies or credit reporting bodies.
- When we are required to share it with a credit bureau or reporting agency.
Some of our website service providers (Google, Microsoft and Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com) may store or process information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States.
How we protect and store it
We keep personal information in our electronic systems and on paper Hire Agreement forms, and we take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing contact@groundbreakersph.com.au. We will need to confirm your identity before we release it.
You do not have to give us your personal information, but without some details we may not be able to quote or hire to you.
